UN Women Supports INCHR Gender Mainstreaming

The office of the United Nations organization for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women popularly referred to as UN Women has enhanced the logistical support of the Independent National Commission on Human Rights(INCHR) Department of Legislative Assistance , Treaty Matters and law-Gender Unit .
The assorted materials donated by the UN women comprised of two cubicle wooden Desk, one bang projector, 3000 ANSI Lumens complete with projector screen HDMI ,one mini bulletin board , two canon EOS rebel T6 Digital SLR Camera Kit, toners for HP LaserJet MF226dn printer , three dell latitude 7000 7280 Business Ultra book -12.5 four bottles of correction fluid ,one pack of highlighters , one double a brand A paper , unibal micro ink pen , steno pads A% size ,paper clips assorted sizes p among others.
The transfer of the equipment by the UN Women to the INCHR was in line with UN Women’s asset management guideline.
Speaking during the presentation of the assorted office materials to officials of the Impendent National Human Rights ( INCHR) over the weekend in Sinkor, UN Women Country Representative to Liberia Marie Gorieth Nizigama said the role of INCHR UN is critical, especially in the area of promoting and protecting human rights .
According to her, the UN Women family primary objective in the area of human rights is to ensure that there is no discrimination, noting that there should be rights for men , boys, girls and women to education, , health, among others.
The UN Women official further specified that the equipment donated will enhance the working of the staff of the INCHR Gender Unit that has the responsibility to critically work in the area of women’s rights.
Receiving the assorted materials from the authority of the UN Women, the Acting Chairperson of the Independent National Commission on Human Rights Rev. Bartholomew Colley extolled the UN Women family for such a vital donation.
According to him, the objective of the INCHR is to protect and promote human rights, which covers women, girls and boys as well as men. He assured that the materials will be used for its intended purposes.
He referred to the all-important donation as a positive step in the right direction basically intended to boast the operations of the commission.
The Liberian cleric equally called for more collaboration between the INCHR and the UN Women in promoting and protecting the rights of women through its gender unit.
Also speaking was Commissioner Atty. Tonieh Talery wiles who has oversight on the Department of Legislative Assistance Treaty Matters, Law –Gender Unit of the Independent National Human Rights Commission. Commissioner Tonieh disclosed that the Gender unit was established in 2018 in fulfillment of the Globule Alliance and Human Rights including the act of the INCHR to protect and promote the rights of every one.
According to her, the Commission also recognizes the need to pay special attention to women , children and persons with disability issue based on reports the commission has received over the years.
Atty. Talery- Wiles further disclosed that the Department of Legislative Assistance, Treaty Matters, law –Gender Unite will cover persons with disabilities issues, children as well as rights.
She narrated that the Unit will work along with other Departments of INCHR in addressing those issues of the rights of children, persons with disabilities as well as other line ministries and agencies.
